Rainbow Room
To provide for the the material needs of children in foster care, the Comal County Child Welfare Board (CCCWB) runs and maintains The Rainbow Room. This is a room, located at each CPS office, that is used to house clothes, blankets, shoes, bottles, cribs, non-perishable food items, gift cards for food, and other things that a child might need while in foster care.
Often, children who are removed from their home, have very little time to pack and gather things that are important to them. Sometimes their situations are so critical that they enter their new home with only the clothes they were wearing. Through the efforts of The Rainbow Room, these children are provided with new clothes, shoes and hygiene items. Also provided are stuffed animals and toys to help comfort them during this difficult time.
Additionally, The Rainbow Room provides Birthday & Christmas gifts, school clothes and supplies, and Graduation gifts to each child who is foster care. We also provide funds for extracurricular activites, needs for school projects, and other needs on a case by case basis.
